Over here on the wonderful island of Oahu, there are a lot of used cars, and I mean a lot of them. If you want to obtain technologically sound used cars that will have good resale value, then these are currently the frontrunners overall
Here they are:
# 1 is the superb Honda Accord (2006 is most popular resale model). This one is known for it’s reliability above all else
# 2 is the compact and efficient 2007 Honda Civic. It gets excellent gas mileage as well
# 3 is the previous standard, the Ford Mustang, the 2007 model. Made in America all the way
It is followed at #4 by its counterpart, the 2006 Ford F150 SuperCrew. It is just known as a smooth and solid ride overall and gets the job done. .
# 5 is the 2007 Toyota Camry, perhaps surprisingly in light of their recent troubles.
# 6 is the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It sells for $15,700 – $31,400. This vehicle rather surprised me—I think of them as tippy. (I only like to consider the highway mileage—it’s more cheerful, don’t you think?) It’s a surprisingly comfortable little car. These are quite popular used cars on Oahu.
# 8 is the 2007 Jeep Wrangler, which goes for $17,850 to $24,000. Has stinky gas mileage, in my opinion, getting 19 to 22 miles per gallon on the highway. But of course, people love that they can take them off road. How often do you do that?
# 9 is the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, going for $29,300 – $31,000! Whew, spendy! Of course it gets similar mileage to the Jeep Wrangler; highway: 20 to 22 miles per gallon. This thing seats up to nine bodies, and it’s pretty darn comfortable for what it is. You may have guessed, these SUV-type vehicles are not my favorite. I would much rather gas up a Honda Civic.

I just got back from the dentist in Bergen County and thought it was about time to do a little blogging of sorts. Is modern technology helping or hurting families to stay in touch? Hawaii Researcher Wins Japan Prize for Science

I just returned from the big island (some nice real estate over there) and time to report: The prestigious Japan Prize for science has been given to a Stanford professor whose far-reaching research of Hawaiian ecosystems has resulted in breakthrough knowledge of the ways agriculture and other human actions affect the environment.
Writing for the online site for the Honolulu Advertiser, Michael Tsai posted his piece on February 6, 2010, under the headline, Hawaii-ecosystem researcher Peter Vitousek wins Japan Prize.
Tsai reports that in announcing the award — which is awarded along with a 50 million yen (about $550,000) cash prize — the Science and Technology Foundation of Japan honored former Honolulu resident and Hawaii native, Peter Vitousek’s.
The scientist, who is 61 years old, will take a trip to Japan in April to accept the award in the presence of Emperor Akihito. It was reported that Vitousek was surprised and honored by the award.

Tsai writes that Vitousek’s colleagues were not surprised. Stanford biology department chair Robert Simoni was quoted in a message issued by the university.
Vitousek comes from a distinguished family. Although the celebrated scientist grew up in Honolulu, he spent part of each year with his family in his father’s native home of Kona on the big island of Hawaii. After attending Punahou for two year, he graduated from Big Island’s Hawai’i Preparatory Academy.

I just got back from getting new tires for my vehicle over on Oahu. In news from Boulder, Colorado, Dominion Resources, which is the fourth-largest power utility in the world. It has given Boulder-based Power Tagging $3 million to continue developing its “smart grid” technology. The CEO of the company will use the money to hire 30 new workers, mostly engineers. On top of all that, their real estate market has been going very strong.
Tony Kindelspire wrote an article under the headline: Boulder smart grid company gets $3M investment, on January 20, 2010 for Longmont Times-Call.Kindelspire writes that it’s the first time the privately held company has received any sort of outside investment, according to John LoPorto, president and CEO. That equals about 1 million fewer procedures than in 2007. That resulted in a 12% reduction in the amount of aesthetic procedures.
Dr. John Shieh, M.D., of RejuvaYou Medical Spa in Los Angeles, was quoted as saying, “By the third and fourth quarters of 2008, we noticed a pullback in all types of procedures.”
Even with the depressed economy, the cosmetic surgery industry still managed to extract almost $12 billion out of consumer pockets in 2008. Volvo’s And Toyota’s Hybrid Plug-in Technology

I just returned to L.A> and thought I would get writing again: Volvo is building a plug-in front wheel drive diesel engine with rear-drive electric motor that will have an 11.3 KWH battery pack. Although the demonstration model, the Volvo V-70, has very expensive batteries ($10,000 lithium ion battery pack), Volvo expects to be able to bring the cost down. It also has some very nice furniture as well a great power source, by the way.
Toyota, the out-front leader with its successful non-plug-in hybrid, Prius, has been evaluating all the various plug-in systems, and as of now, plans to begin mass production of its plug-in hybrid in 2012. It has been said that this model will go for up to 18 miles on only battery power, and the price will be in the upper $40,000 range. I just hope it is not a lemon otherwise you might need a knowledgeable guy for that. Changing gears for a momment, if you need a qualified Furniture Source then take a look at this particular site.
