Federal Realty and Car Charging Group are now a team. The real estate asset management company announced the partnering up with the car charging installation company that will create electric car charging stations on major urban areas where Federal Realty has prime locations. My friend who runs a San Jose and also a Santa Cruz auto repair service shop was telling me about this.
Mike Kelleher, director Federal Realty, was quoted today, Dec. 20, 2011, in an industry press release, as saying, “Federal Realty is committed to running our (company) in a socially responsible manner that balances our consideration for the environment……”
Car Charging Group, Inc, director of sales, Brian Golomb, was quoted in the release as saying, “This is an exciting partnership as it further expands our nationwide EV charging network. These are also high-profile properties, which will bring even further awareness to the importance of EVs in the evolving U.S. transportation system, whether in Santa Cruz, San Jose or wherever really.
The release notes that Car Charging Group, Inc. is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and claims to be the pioneer and one of the nation’s fastest growing builders of EV charging services. Their ambitious mission is to build a national infrastructure for EV and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) owners to charge their EVs. Again, my friend who runs the aformentioned Santa Cruz and San Jose Auto Service repair shop filled me in on the details:

Car Charging Group wants to be the leading strategic partner with businesses, municipalities, shopping malls, parking garages, multi-family residential and commercial properties to locate EV charge stations. They look to find the best locations (hopefully places like Santa Cruz and San Jose, for instance) to install and maintain the EV charging stations at no cost to our partners, the company reports.
Car Charging Group says their partners profit by sharing in the profits from the EV auto charging stations while furthering green initiatives. Since the start of their operations in 2009, they have negotiated contracts with 29 various partners that own more than 6.4 million parking spots. More than one million plug-in electric auto vehicles like the Nissan LEAF (man that one is hard to repair and service), GM Chevrolet Volt, Fisker Karma, Tesla Model S, and Ford Focus EV are anticipated to need these facilities in the U.S. by 2015 The group estimates more than 40 million worldwide by 2030. I hope that auto repair also becomes this easy some day.
Slingpost has improved its iPhone application that uses iPhones GPS that is able make voice notes to locate users all over the world. Slingpost is the parent company of GeoGraffiti which is a geolocation service that now offers it’s users the ability to browse thru so called “voicemarks” to hear what other users have recorded or to locate any users near you. It has been referred to as being like radar detection for voice messages.
The iPhone application will be able to constantly track your location and is updated several times an hour if you are on the move. As an example of how it works; if you are driving you can set it to call your iPhone and give updates on any new local voicemarks so you could detect the whereabouts of others as you are driving thru or you can leave your own voicemark for others looking for you.
An idea one user has for this pocket sized device, is to use it to set up scavenger hunts or to leave clues for others in espionage games. Or as one user put it, it’s like scribbled graffiti on your iPhone, left there for all others to see, or hear as is in this case.
